Dr Suliman’s passion for Orthodontics began at a young age. She knew when she was just a teen in braces herself, that this was her career of choice. As soon as you meet Dr. Suliman, you’ll see that she not only loves being an Orthodontist, but she wants to be the absolute best – settling for nothing less than excellence. Dr Suliman’s practice philosophy is geared towards an intimate practice where she can give each patient personalized individual service with consistent care; using the highest quality orthodontic materials together with state-of-the-art technology.
Dr Suliman graduated as a dentist from The University of Pretoria, (South Africa), where she was always at the top of the Deans Merit List. Her awards and recognitions have been exemplary. Graduating at the top of her dental class with the highest honors (summa Cum laude status); her exceptional achievement in her academic career won her the The Gold Medal of the South African Dental Association that is recognized nationally as the highest undergraduate award in the faculty of dentistry. She was further awarded the Medal of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal in recognition of her clinical and academic excellence in every year of her studies. Being ranked as the country’s top dental graduate; she gained the competitive edge needed towards achieving her dream; acceptance into a much sought after orthodontic specialty post. The University of the Western Cape (UWC) granted her almost immediate acceptance to enter and complete her 4 year orthodontic residency training and in 2009 Dr Suliman graduated as a Specialist Orthodontist. After graduating, Dr Suliman moved to Windhoek, Namibia where she continues to practice as a full time Orthodontic Specialist in private practice that she started in 2010
Dr Suliman describes herself as a “perpetual student” and is constantly involved with continuing education hence maintains her memberships in many prestigious professional organizations, attends study clubs, seminars, lectures as well as local and international conferences to remain on the cutting edge of new advances in research, technology, and techniques. She has recently her PhD (Professorship) in Orthodontics in Netherlands

Dr Andy Effting graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1981, receiving the Henry St John Randolph Award for Best All-Round Student.

In 1983, he founded Hout Bay Dental Studio, now a leading aesthetic and restorative dentistry practice.

A founding member of SAAAD, Andy has served on its Executive Committee since 2010. He has authored articles in Dentistry SA, presented numerous case studies, and appeared on radio and television discussing dental health.

His special interests include metal-free, minimally invasive dentistry and a holistic approach to patient care.

2024 dr shanne maree

Dr Shanné Maree

Dr Shanné Maree is a restorative dentist and owns DENTAL HAUS™️ in Val de Vie Winelands Estate, Paarl.

She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2017 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Endodontics (cum laude) in 2019.

Passionate about education and innovation, Shanné serves on the SAAAD Executive Committee and has lectured for SADA, ITI, and SAAAD.

She is dedicated to a holistic approach to health, function, and facial aesthetics, ensuring exceptional patient care.

2024 dr chris traut

Dr Chris Traut

Dr Chris Traut graduated top of his class from the University of the Western Cape in 2016. He has been in private practice in Bryanston for six years, focusing on modern, digitally-driven dentistry.

He holds an Advanced Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry diploma and is certified in interceptive orthodontics, Damon fixed orthodontics, clear aligner therapy, and implantology. Passionate about the Align, Bleach, and Bond approach, he specialises in digitally guided resin restorations using the injection-moulding technique.

Chris is actively involved in hands-on dentist training, serves on the SAAAD Executive Committee, and is a member of the International Team for Implantology.

Dr Kaveer Ratan is a restorative dentist focusing on cosmetic and implant dentistry.

He obtained his dental degree from the University of the Western Cape and a Postgraduate Diploma in Implantology from the University of Pretoria.

A Key Opinion Leader for GC, Kaveer practices at Ratan & Singh Advanced Dentistry in Cape Town.

Passionate about education, he has lectured for The Bridge Program, Nexus, and SADA, sharing his expertise with the next generation of dentists.

2025 dr christiaan victor

Dr Christiaan Victor obtained his BChD degree from the University of Pretoria in 2001 and started his private practice in 2002.

With over two decades in private practice, he has developed expertise in implantology and endodontology, earning multiple postgraduate qualifications, including an MSc Dent (cum laude) in 2020.

Passionate about advancing clinical excellence, he lectures on endodontics and implantology and is an active member of Study Group 1.
