Dr van der Linde completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS) in 2012 at the University of the Witwatersrand. During this time, he was awarded the SADA Leadership Medal for displaying outstanding leadership qualities, character, and sportsmanship.
He also participated in and won the 2012 Dentsply/SADA student clinician programme for research undertaken as an undergraduate student. He presented this research at the 153rd Annual Session of the American Dental Association (ADA) held in San Francisco, California, USA.
He completed his community service year in 2013 at the Area Military Health Unit, North West Province, receiving a Gold Certificate in recognition of his dedication and loyal service to the establishment. While in private practice in 2016, Dr van der Linde started his part-time Master of Science in Dentistry (MSc (Dent)) degree in Prosthodontics. He then completed his specialist prosthodontic training (MDent Pros) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2022, after which he returned to private practice as a specialist prosthodontist. He also acts as a part-time consultant in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Oral Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, specifically focusing on training postgraduate students.
He is an active member of the Academy of Prosthodontics South Africa (APSA) and the International Team for Implantology (ITI), for which he is a co-director of the Johannesburg study club. His past research areas include improving the quality of life for denture-wearing patients. This included alternative antifungal medicaments suitable for the South African setting and cost-effective attachment systems for overdenture attachments. His passions include dental implantology, occlusal rehabilitation and endodontics. He is keenly interested in managing Head and Neck Oncology and works within the Morningside Head and Neck Oncology team.
