Prabashen Ragasviran is a dental therapist based in Durban, KZN. He founded Catford Dental in 2012, following the completion of his bachelor’s degree in Dental Therapy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2010.
He subsequently completed a Postgraduate diploma in Public Health from the University of Pretoria. He later completed a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry in Cape Town at the Restorative and Aesthetic Academy.
Prabashen is a member of the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry, founded by Dr. David Alleman, and is deeply passionate about the principles of biomimetics. His interest in this field was inspired by the needs of the community he serves, where many patients, constrained by cost, often choose extractions over root canal treatment. This motivated him to pursue and implement minimally invasive techniques that preserve tooth vitality and structure.
Since founding Catford Dental in 2012, he has advanced his clinical practice from pulp capping and stepwise excavation techniques to modern vital pulp therapies, utilising the latest bioceramic materials.
Prabashen has presented at conferences organised by the South African Dental Therapy Association and the South African Dental Association, sharing his expertise and advocating for conservative, evidence-based care.
He is also the co-founder of CUSP Dental Practice Learning. This mentoring and educational platform fosters collaborative growth among dental professionals in the field of conservative, minimally invasive dentistry.
