It's Your Time to Shine!

Who will be crowned the best young dental speaker in South Africa?

Following the success of the events in 2019, 2023 and 2024, SAAAD is excited to host this unique platform once again, showcasing the next generation of dental talent. This is your moment if you are passionate about aesthetic dentistry and confident in your clinical and communication skills.

Whether you've presented before or this is your first step onto the stage, this competition could launch your speaking career and connect you with key opinion leaders in the industry.

What You Need to Know

Entry Requirements

  • Open to all South African registered dentists under 40 (as of 6 September 2025).
  • Submit a clinical case presentation — any aesthetic case, from a single tooth to full-mouth rehab.
  • You must be available to present live at the final event in Cape Town on Saturday, 6 September 2025.

To enter, submit:

  • A 250-word abstract summarising your proposed presentation
  • Your presentation title.
  • A short professional bio.
  • A high-resolution profile picture.

Entries close: 11 July 2025 at noon
The Selection Process

A panel of three judges will review all submissions and select ten finalists based on:

  • Clinical relevance and interest of the topic
  • Abstract quality
  • Case clarity and potential for impactful presentation
Presentation Format - The Live Battle

If selected, you'll present your case live at the Battle of the Speakers on 6 September 2025. The rules:

  • 15 minutes per presentation
  • 10 minutes Q&A
  • Any presentation tools are permitted (PowerPoint, video, animations, etc.)
  • Use 16:9 slide format
  • No limit on slide count, but timing matters
    • +10 points if you finish on time
    • -10 points if you overrun
Judging and Scoring

A mix of expert jury evaluation (75%) and live audience voting (25%) will decide the winner. The judging panel may re-vote in the event of a tie.

Scoring Breakdown (max 70 points):

Quality of Documentation 0 - 5
Rationale and Treatment Plan 0 - 5
Style of Presentation 0 - 5


With three judges, the above allows a maximum of 60 points, plus a 10-point time bonus.
